530 Miles Sacramento to Santa Monica in 5 Days:Cycling for Change
I embarked on a special and crazy cycling journey from Sacramento to Santa Monica starting October 12 through 16, 2023 for 530 miles in 5 days. ποΈ I teamed up with my friend Lydia who has beat cancer twice, and she wants to bring awareness to Osteosarcoma and raise more money for research so they can save more children's lives. We also teamed up with the Osteosarcoma Institute, an organization dedicated to saving the lives of children battling this relentless disease. Together, we are making a difference! The ride was an incrediable journey through CA. The journey started bright and early with a quick interview with the news station on the front lawn of the Capital of California in Sacramento. Then, I had a great send off from friends and family, and the journey started. Day 1: Sacramento to Pacifica, 115 miles and 3,800 climb Day 2: Pacifica to Pacific Grove, 111 miles and 5,300 climb Day 3-Adventure time: HWY 1 Closed to Morro Bay so detour through Carmel Valley, 100 miles and 5,400 climb Day 4: Morro Bay to Santa Barabra and was greeted with my friend Laurie to ride the next two days with me, 119 miles and 5,300 climb Day 5: Santa Barbara to Santa Monica, 86 miles and 2,300 climb Throughout my entire ride, it was incredible to see the on going support for such a great cause. People donated and shared every story we had for the week. One of the greatest achievements of the ride was the fact that so many people did not know what Osteosarcoma was until I started riding. That's exactly why I wanted to ride. I could not have done the ride without my SAG car help from Anna and the two pitbulls, Riley and Henry cheering me on. Additionally, it was amazing to watch my friend Laurie conquer some amazing miles for an amazing cause. She is always down for some challenges. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this cause. This event was successful because of your kindness and willingness to help raise awareness for Osteosarcoma. I am thrilled to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the incredible individuals and companies who generously sponsored my ride from Sacramento to Santa Monica, bringing awareness to Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and funding to the Osteosarcoma Institute so we can find a better cure for this awful disease. π΄ββοΈποΈ We would like to express our deepest appreciation and thank you to Brian Kasis, the #1 realtor, Parkway Physical Therapy, Three Point Painting, Piering Law Firm, Gibson Chiropractic, Hasan and Shumaker, Perry G., and the Kelts family. Your belief in my goal to ride from Sacramento to Santa Monica made my mission of reaching more people about Osteosarcoma very successful. Together, with the support of these remarkable individuals and companies, we are making a tremendous impact in the fight against osteosarcoma. Your kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed, and we are forever grateful for your unwavering support. ππ΄ββοΈποΈ Let's keep raising awareness about osteosarcoma and help the institute continue their life-saving work. π€ Together, we can bring hope and support to children fighting this battle. Every share counts, and every donation makes an impact.
